Welcome to the web site of Hamilton Artist

Kathryn Smith.

Born in Hamilton Ontario, Kathryn has a deep affection for her hometown. This affection is reflected in her landscapes, cityscapes and Limited Edition collection.

At the early age of six, Kathryn Smith knew that she wanted to be an artist. Living in the City of Hamilton gave her the opportunity to attend the Dundas Valley School of Art where she studied under master artist Gordon Perrier for 3-1/2 years.

Her love of both architecture and animals led her in the direction of doing private commissions.  In 1999 Kathryn started a millennium project of 3 paintings of Hamilton’s historic buildings dating back to 1900.  Those buildings were the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club, The Brant Inn and Whitehern Historic Home.  These 3 paintings were published in small editions to celebrate the millennium.  Because of their huge appeal, the collection grew from there.

Today Kathryn is one of the area’s most popular and respected artists.  She has been celebrating her home town for more than 20 years with original paintings and commissions of the area.  Her Limited Edition Prints, capturing life in Hamilton in the 1950s, are widely sought after by Hamiltonians living across North America.

Kathryn currently lives in the South West area of Hamilton with her two faithful studio assistants, Chaucer, a West Highland Terrier and Catya, a black, Burmese foundling.
