{"id":560,"date":"2011-09-14T23:27:24","date_gmt":"2011-09-15T03:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hamiltonartist.com\/blog\/?p=560"},"modified":"2011-09-16T18:23:01","modified_gmt":"2011-09-16T22:23:01","slug":"heaven-can-wait","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hamiltonartist.com\/blog\/?p=560","title":{"rendered":"HEAVEN CAN WAIT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The original surgery had been scheduled for last Thursday &#8211; the same day that the lights went out in Tijuana, and most of California, stretching to Las Vegas and leaving over 5 million people without electricity. \u00a0That afternoon we were very grateful that once again we had made the right decision at the right time.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_563\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hamiltonartist.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_1627.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-563\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-563\" title=\"Going into surgery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hamiltonartist.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_1627-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-563\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Going into surgery.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Now the ordeal is over. \u00a0Len has a colostomy bag that can be easily reversed when we manage to kill off the cancer. \u00a0The entire surgery lasted for about 2 1\/2 hours. \u00a0The surgeon, Dr Cedeno, said that half the time was doing the hemorrhoids that have plagued Lennie for so long. \u00a0We knew that the tumor would not be touched, but had hoped that some of the blood supply to it would be cut and cauterized. \u00a0Unfortunately it was too vascular and that could not be done. \u00a0The liver, under the surgeon&#8217;s hands has a hard mass that is contained to the left side with the entire right side being very healthy.<\/p>\n<p>So now we have 2 tumors to deal with &#8211; one in Lennie&#8217;s colon and one in his liver. \u00a0As Lennie put it, &#8220;<em>All<\/em> I have now is two tumors to get rid of!&#8221; \u00a0It is all in your point of view.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_565\" style=\"width: 234px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hamiltonartist.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_16291.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-565\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-565\" title=\"Lennie up and walking after surgery.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hamiltonartist.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_16291-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-565\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lennie up and walking after surgery.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We may not have time on our side, but we do have love on our side. \u00a0And love is a friend of time. \u00a0We still have many months of therapies and supplements, but for now&#8230; <em>heaven can wait.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I love you Lennie Schneider,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Kathryn<\/em><\/p>\n<p>www.kathrynsmith.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The original surgery had been scheduled for last Thursday &#8211; the same day that the lights went out in Tijuana, and most of California, stretching to Las Vegas and leaving over 5 million people without electricity. \u00a0That afternoon we were very grateful that once again we had made the right decision at the right time.
